Tom Shay purchased Graves Creek Service in 1982 as a “saw shop,” but it has become much more than that in the time he’s managed the store.

With a base of chain saws, lawn mowers, weed eaters, and other small engine tools, Graves Creek Service added lawn and garden equipment, work clothes and boots for logging customers. After that came general sportswear for everyone with brand names like Columbia Sportswear, Carhartt, and Woolrich. The store added to its boot line as well, with popular brands like Merrell Footwear, Danner Boots, Sorel Footwear, and Red Wing Boots.
“Our business is built on service and taking care of our customers,” says owner Tom Shay.
They’d had a factory certified mechanic, Verl Larson, to service and repair small engine problems since 1994, and Tammy Roose has been working in the shop since 1992.
Graves Creek Service has been selling and servicing the Stihl product line of small engine products since 1982, and became a Stihl Elite dealer in 2007.
In more recent years, the shop expanded into underground sprinkler systems, selling the Hunter brand of sprinkler products – another service that ties in well with the other home improvement aspects of the Graves Creek Service business.
“We’re grateful for the ongoing support from the Eureka community,” Shay said. “It’s got wonderful people and it’s a great place to live and work.”
