The H. James Toland, Jr., C.P.A., P.C., office was established as a public accountant business by Richard Bagley, C.P.A. in 1971. Jim Toland, with 34 years local, regional and national experience as a C.P.A., bought the firm in 1992.

Jim has been a tax partner in charge of the Ashville, N.C. office of a national firm.
As the only local C.P.A. firm in the Tobacco Valley, Jim offers comprehensive services such as state, federal, income, gift and estate tax preparation and planning, payroll tax preparation, general business planning and accounting services. The business also has continuing access to national and large firm tax libraries and specialists.
Jim employs Penny Montgomery and Norma Shaffer, who do the payroll and bookkeeping.
As a service business, Jim remembers that in tax work the client wants to hear what they can do to save on their taxes, not all the things they can’t do. Jim also wants folks to know that he can usually get their taxes done in four days or less, providing they bring him their complete information.
H. James Toland Jr. C.P.A., P.C., is located at 301 1st Avenue East. Business hours are between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. From January through April the office is open between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
