In 2009, the funeral home will have been in business for 100 years, and it is the only one of its kind in Lincoln County. Steve has served at the funeral home since May of 1994. He is well prepared to handle the leadership of the business so important to Lincoln County. He feels his ministerial and counseling experience have helped him be able to meet the needs of families in a caring and compassionate way.
When a loved one passes away, Schnackenberg and Nelson Funeral Home is available to help grieving families through some of the most difficult parts of the process.
Its a time when people are hurting, Denise emphasized, When decisions need to be made. Its good to be there for people and a privilege for us to be able to help families and serve them.
Every familys need is different. Some have made prearrangements, some are starting from scratch. Many desire a memorial marker for the grave of a loved one.
First we learn their needs, Steve said. We offer a wide variety of both burial and cremation services. For paperwork, we virtually do everything for them.
Schnackenberg contacts the churches and pastors, takes care of writing and sending out obituaries, files insurance claims, and more. Basically, anything we can do to make it easier for the family, Denise added.
An office in Eureka is staffed at an on-need basis, and conveniently, Steve will meet with and do visitations with families right here in Eureka. There is no charge for mileage in Lincoln or Flathead counties. Steve adds that he often goes to the home of an individual if they are unable to get out. They dont have to go anywhere else, down to Libby or the Flathead, Steve explained.
Steve grew up in Libby before moving to Nebraska for college. There he met and married Denise. Together, they served a church for eight years in Nebraska before returning to Lincoln County eventually joining the funeral home. They have three sons.
We look forward to our continued service here in Eureka, Steve said. It is a true pleasure working in the community up here, since I am related to or know so many people here.
