The “brand new” feeling may have started to wear off by now, but you must admit you were pretty amazed when you first walked through the doors of the new Stein’s Market. After months of work, the new store opened officially Jan. 14, 2009. Parking, which had been a problem at the previous location, is now a non-issue. Spacious aisles and an expanded selection of just about everything make the store an impressive addition to Eureka. There’s a sit down area for having a meal, shopping carts with attached kid-cars, new bathrooms, and more.

The new Stein’s building opened in January of 2009.

Best of all, you still see the same friendly smiles and service in the checkout line.
“There’s been an excellent response from the community,” remarked store manager Mike Skranak. “We get really positive comments.”
The new, larger store features increased space, improved layout, and more job opportunities for the community, something Skranak is pleased they can provide.
“Stein’s is a great organization to work for,” he said. “They care about their employees.”
The opening of the first Stein’s Market was in 1929, and it began, and continues to be, a family-owned and operated grocery store for the communities it serves in Idaho and Montana.
Lincoln County has had a Stein’s Market for 29 years in Troy, but Eureka got its own three years ago when the family-owned company purchased J.B’s, a longtime local market.
“We saw the opportunity to provide a service,” said store manager Mike Skranak, an employee under the Stein’s name for the last 21 years. “It gives people the opportunity to shop in Eureka rather than Whitefish or Kalispell – part of the reason why we built the new store.”
Skranak came to Eureka three years ago to manage the new store. After working for Stein’s in Idaho, he was glad to return to his home county.
“It was like coming home,” Skranak said. “And it really has been. The support from the community has been outstanding.”
Stein’s Market is open seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
