The Tobacco Valley News takes pride in covering the events and people in our valley for over 49 years.
With news, sports, opinions, and features, the News strives to provide readers of all ages with news that matters to them. It also offers area businesses a venue for getting the word out about their goods and services.

Several annual publications supplement the weekly newspaper. Each fall since 1995, the News publishes a Progress edition, which serves as a business directory for the valley. The Progress was designed to provide businesses with an opportunity to tell their stories and highlight the unique goods and services they offer. The Progress is distributed throughout the year, providing full year coverage for our advertisers. Each spring, the Tobacco Valley Country Visitors Guide appears throughout the valley and beyond, illustrating the beauty and diversity of the Tobacco Valley. Copies of the Country are actively distributed within the area and elsewhere throughout the year.
The News is appreciative for the growing readership residents have demonstrated through the years. Our readers are invaluable sources of information for news and feature stories and we gratefully welcome their suggestions.
This past year at the state press awards, Tobacco Valley News received first place recognition for government reporting, personality feature story, outdoor activity photo, and small space advertising. The News also received second place in general excellence among weekly newspapers and third place for best feature story and photo essay.
Online at tobaccovalleynews.com we offer portions of the weekly edition, including news, photos, classified ads, and an electronic business card directory. We also try to utilize our Web site to post stories and updates that readers want access to.
