For 33 years, Von’s Cafe has been serving the Lions and the locals.
George and Von Paine opened it originally in 1976 with a focus on suppporting and providing lunches for students at the school across the street, and they have been doing just that ever since. Three years ago, Von’s Cafe was sold to Nina and Josh Jankovsky. Since then, they’ve expanded the building and made many upgrades to allow for more seating and to better serve the whole community.

You can still see original staff Levetta Bailey and George Paine in the cafe too.
Thirty-three graduating classes later, Von’s has been home to many memories for people in the valley, and the cafe backs the memories up with delicious burgers, sandwiches, soups, and salads. For a real kick of nostalgia, you can even get the original signature egg and ham Von’s Burger (by request only).
“Customers from all over the country have said these are the best burgers anywhere,” Nina said. “They’re the best in town, with a smalltown atmosphere and fast, friendly, and fun service.”
On Friday nights, Von’s Cafe is known for the changing specialty dishes offered alongside various delicious seafood platters.
The backroom and kids’ window is open for students from noon to 12:45 p.m., and on Tuesdays, Von’s draws names to give away two free lunches.
“It’s a busy place from noon to 12:45 p.m.,” Nina commented. “We get hit from both sides.”
In the works for the future are plans to do a remodel, and recently they began accepting credit cards. Bev Fanelli also puts up seasonal decorations for the business, giving it a new look throughout the year.
‘Thank you to all my hard working employees,” Nina says. “They really hustle and run their butts off. And thanks to all our loyal customers – keep comin’ back!”
